Optimists
This Easter break we will have training courses over the two weeks of the holidays. The first week will be all about Optimists, our training will run from Monday 14th April – Thursday 17th April in preparation for the brassed off cup which takes place on Good Friday. There’ll be two training groups, our Balscadden group which is for regatta fleet sailors and our Baily group which is for sailors in the main fleet. If you have any questions on which group your sailor should be in you can contact Matthew – Sailing@hyc.ie
Skill Builders
The second week of the easter break, we will have skill builder sessions for our junior sailors who are looking to get out and improve certain sailing skills before the summer season. We have two groups based on age/ability.
The first group is for sailors aged 8-9, theses sessions will be focused around Irish Sailings start sailing syllabus, so if you’re junior has completed Cara Na Mara or Start Sialing this is the perfect week for them to get on the water before the Summer season.
The second group is for sailors aged 10-12, these sessions ill be focused around Irish Sailings Basic Skills, so if you’re junior Basic Skills this is the perfect week for them to get on the water before they complete Improving Skills this Summer season.
Sessions will run in the mornings (09:30 – 12:30) from Tuesday April 22nd – Friday April 25th.
420 Coaching
For our older sailors, we will be running a week of 420 coaching from Tuesday April 22nd – Friday April 25th. This is perfect for sailors who have completed improving skills and are looking to get a taste of sailing bigger boats with a spinnaker and a trapeze. Or if you want to refresh your trapezing skills after doing a Kites & Wires course last summer. You don’t need to have your own boat for this week of training as it will be run in the Club 420’s
