CARA NA MARA – 5 Day Sailing Course for 6 – 10 year olds.

The Cara Na Mara programme provides an on the water and shoreside training programme that delivers basics sailing skills, seamanship, environmental awareness and science. The courses run in the morning and afternoon from 09:30 to 12:30 or from 13:30 to 16:30 for the afternoon sessions. Cara Na Mara is ideally suited for those juniors from ages 6 to 10.

Price: €130.00 per person/1-week course (inclusive of Bank Holidays where appropriate)
Start Dates: 1st July, 8th July, 15th July, 22nd July, 29th July, 5th August, 19th August.

Experience: No previous experience required

What will you need: Wetsuit (ideally long-sleeved) and booties/old runners, if you have a buoyancy aid great, but don’t worry, we have plenty you can borrow!

 Age Groups:

Otters: 6 – 7 year olds.
Seals: 7 – 8 year olds.
Dolphins: 8 – 9 year olds.
Orcas: 9 – 10 year olds.

Cara na Mara is a child focused approach to introducing sailing to children, allowing children to discover, explore and practice the skills and knowledge they will need as sailors while under the leadership and supervision of Irish Sailing qualified instructors and within an Irish Sailing recognised training centre. There is a strong emphasis on allowing the sailors to appreciate and enjoy the water and outdoor environment safely.

The skills and knowledge tie into the National School Curriculum.
